The persistent reservations clear utility is located on the HP MPIO XP DSM installation media, and
gets copied to the HP MPIO XP DSM installation directory during the installation. You can run this
utility either on a system that has HP MPIO XP DSM installed or on a system where HP HP MPIO XP
DSM is not installed.
To run this utility on a system where the HP MPIO XP DSM is installed, complete the following steps:
1. Select Start > Programs > Hewlett-Packard > XP DSM > HPDSM PR Utility.
2. Enter the command hpprutil /? at the command prompt to display the instructions for using
this utility.
The hpprutil utility supports the following commands:
• hpprutil devices
• hpprutil clear device
• hpprutil help
hpprutil devices
Syntax: hpprutil devices
The hpprutil devices command displays details of reservations on the devices as shown in the
following example. If there are no devices present, the following message is displayed: No Devices
Found.
Example:
hpprutil devices

hpprutil clear device
Syntax: hpprutil clear device=x
Syntax: hpprutil clear device=m n
The hpprutil clear device command clears the reservation present on device x, or clears the
reservation present on devices starting from m to n (both inclusive), depending on the input parameter
specified.
Example:
hpprutil clear device=1
