while to warm up before it is ready to scan.
4. Enter the name of your new prole.
5. The HP Utility may prompt you to calibrate the paper.
6. A proling chart is printed. Unlike a calibration chart, most of the patches contain combinations of more
than one ink. The printer automatically chooses the proling chart for the paper size loaded.
An A3 or B format for cut sheets
A roll-paper format that minimizes paper use by printing across the full width of the roll
7. The chart is allowed to dry for a period of time that depends on the paper type, so that the colors have time
to stabilize.
8. The chart is scanned, and measured by the HP Embedded Spectrophotometer.
9. From the measurements made by the spectrophotometer, the printer calculates the ICC prole for your
printer, inks, and paper type.
10. The new ICC prole is stored in the following folder on your computer:
C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color (Windows)
/Library/ColorSync/Proles/HP DesignJet (macOS)
11. The prole is also stored in the printer, so that other computers connected to the same printer can copy it.
The HP Utility will notify you if your printer has proles that are not yet stored on your computer.
NOTE: Some applications may need to be closed and restarted in order to use a prole that has just been
created.
Install a color prole
If you have obtained an ICC prole through other means than using the HP Utility, for instance from the Internet
or from a third-party proling software package, you can still install it for use with your printer and paper.
