Update Release Notes - Enterprise Volume Manager (Multi-OS) Host Agent for Compaq Tru64 UNIX

Limitations and Known Issues
8 Update Release Notes Enterprise Volume Manager (Multi-OS) Host Agent for
Compaq Tru64 UNIX
Unit Style Replication Not Supported with AdvFS Domains
The CLONE operation provides two syntax styles:
Unit syntaxreplication sources are specified in terms of the applicable HSG80
subsystem and unit number. This method does not provide any mechanism for
quiescing an AdvFS domain or gathering the meta data necessary to reconstruct a
domain on the mount-on host.
Unit style replication is suitable only for UFS or raw devices and is not supported
with AdvFS.
Volume syntaxreplication sources are specified in terms of the host they reside
on and the applicable fileset or domain name. This method allows EVM to quiesce
the AdvFS domain being replicated and also allows EVM to gather the meta data
necessary to reconstruct the replicated domain on the mount-on host.
Known Issues
Known issues include the following topics:
Restart Switchboard to Discover Host Volume Changes
XML Buffer Size Issue
Restart Switchboard to Discover Host Volume Changes
The EVM Host Agent can adapt to most user-initiated volume configuration changes
as they occur. However, some changes (such as the manual addition or removal of a
disk from an AdvFS domain, or the addition or removal of an entire domain) are not
automatically detected. If a host storage or volume configuration change is necessary,
Compaq recommends a best practice of always restarting the switchboard daemons
afterwards to make sure that EVM has the most up-to-date information available.
XML Buffer Size Issue
EVM Server periodically performs a query operation on each EVM Host Agent to
update the list of devices and volumes available on each host. The data returned by this
query contains a large amount of information about the physical and logical structure
of the AdvFS domains on the host. For very large configurations, the amount of data
returned may exceed the capacity of the buffer used to transmit the data to the EVM
Server.
