Snapshot Is Not Supported
HSG80 snapshot functionality is not supported on Tru64 UNIX. An incompatibility
exists between how the HSG80 array controller responds to the creation of a snapshot
and how Tru64 UNIX handles certain informational events. When a snapshot is
created, the HSG80 array controller issues a SCSI Unit Attention to inform the host
about the presence of a new LUN. Tru64 UNIX responds to the Unit Attention by
aborting all active I/O processes and performing an error recovery routine. This abort
process causes the snapshot to go into a disabled state, which prevents the snapshot
from being accessed.
This problem will be corrected in a Tru64 UNIX driver patch and in the Array
Controller Software (ACS) version 8.7 release of the HSG80 firmware. Until then,
EVM supports only the clone replication method for Tru64 UNIX.
LSM Is Not Supported
This release of the EVM Host Agent does not support the Tru64 UNIX Logical
Storage Manager (LSM). EVM can coexist with LSM, but any volumes that are based
on an LSM disk group cannot be used for replication. LSM support will be added in a
future release.
AdvFS Domain Is the Minimum Unit of Replication
Specifying either a single fileset or an entire domain as the replication source results in
the entire domain being copied. Because an AdvFS domain is essentially a pool of
storage that can be spread across many different disks, no way exists at this time to
determine which disks contain the data for a given fileset. The only way to reliably
copy fileset data is to copy all of the disks that comprise the domain.
No More Than 128 Filesets per Domain
This EVM Host Agent supports up to 128 filesets per AdvFS domain.
One AdvFS Domain per Job
This EVM Host Agent supports one AdvFS domain per EVM job. Replicating
multiple domains requires the use of multiple EVM jobs.
