If the Netscape Browser Appears to Lock
Symptom Cause/Solution
The Netscape Navigator browser
appears to lock and the status bar
displays “Starting Java.”
In certain conditions, subversions of Netscape Navigator 4
lock when Java initializes. Upgrade Netscape Navigator to
version 4.05 or greater, or pass -start_java to command line of
workstation (HP-UX or Windows NT).
The Netscape Navigator browser
appears to lock on HP-UX
workstations and the status bar
does NOT display “Starting Java.”
Netscape Navigator does not have Java enabled.
Enable Java.

Java.
