Recalling older generations of a file
You can recall any older generation of a migrated file using the fsefile command on the FSE client. The
fsefile command is also used to show file history with information about older migrated generations of
a file on an HSM file system. For further information on the fsefile command, see the fsefile man
page.
NOTE: The fsefile command only manages files that are located on a local HSM file system.
The procedure for recalling an older generation of a migrated file is the same on all supported platforms.
The main difference in the examples that follow is in the pathnames used.
Recalling an older generation of a migrated file may take some time. The command, however, starts a
recall job and returns quickly without a message if the job has been started successfully.
