About monitoring and maintaining in FSE
You can use either FSE command-line interface or the FSE management console to monitor and manage
various entities in the FSE implementation, for example, jobs, partitions, log files, and resources such as
libraries, drives, and media. FSE also enables you to automatically detect low storage space conditions
and start a configurable action in such cases.
To monitor and analyze log files, use the Log Analyzer utility. SeeMonitoring and analyzing FSE log
files” on page 197 on for more information on the Log Analyzer utility.
To automatically detect a low storage event, use the HSM Health Monitor (HHM) utility. For more
information on the HHM utility, see section ”Low storage space detection” on page 186.
For general information on FSE command-line interface, see ”FSE command-line interface” on page 21.
You can find specific options for each command by specifying the --help option after the command
name.
Linux specific
On Linux platform, the FSE command-line reference is available as UNIX man pages.
Windows specific
On Windows platform, the FSE command-line reference is available as Windows/HTML help.
For general information on the FSE management console, seeFSE Management Console” on page 23.
Monitoring general FSE implementation status
For monitoring general FSE implementation status, only FSE command-line interface can be used.
To display general status of the FSE implementation and status of the configured FSE partitions, run the
following command on the consolidated FSE system or the FSE server:
General FSE implementation status includes the following information:
number of configured partitions in the FSE implementation
number of currently running administrative FSE jobs
list of configured FSE partitions, with the following information for each partition:
partition name
current status (ready, disabled, recovery mode, mounted, error, unknown)
number of running jobs
fsesystem --status
