NOTE: FRI is stored in the FRI directory, /var/opt/fse/fri/, after recreating FRI for closed
WORM volumes.
The existing FRI on the medium volume and system volume will be overwritten with the newly created
FRI. If there is not enough space on the medium volumes, the FRI is stored to the FRI directory on disk.
The FRI directory path is /var/opt/fse/fri (on Linux systems) or %InstallPath%\var\fri (on
Windows systems).
Inconsistent or incomplete FRI can be detected with the FSC vs. media check. For more information, see
”Consistency check of FSC vs. FSE media” on page 182.
To recreate FRI, use the following command:
NOTE: Recreating FRI on single-volume media such as LTO 1, LTO 2, and LTO 3 can take a considerable
amount of time.
Removing FSE media
You can only remove a medium from the FSE implementation if the medium has not yet been used
(initialized), or the respective FSE partition was removed from the FSE implementation and the medium is
not assigned to the partition (the medium has its status set to free). Before removing a medium, you need
to make sure that all FSE medium volumes on it are empty:
NOTE: When you remove an FSE medium using fsemedium --remove, it is also logically removed
from the FSE library in which it is located. This means that the medium is no longer reported in the output
of the fselibrary --list command.
If the medium is still physically present in the library, trigger a library inventory update to include the
medium barcode again in the logical inventory of the library. Use the
fselibrary --update-inventory command for this purpose.
