Director Element Manager user guide 17
You can install the HAFM and Element Manager clients on remote computer systems, as shown in
Figure 1 on page 17. For instructions, see the section in the HP StorageWorks HA-Fabric Manager
user guide that pertains to the operating system of your computer.

Using the Element Manager, you can:
• Perform system tasks:
• Back up and restore configuration data.
• Clear the system error indicator.
• Configure the following Element Manager features:
• Configure extended distance buffering for ports.
• Fibre Channel operating parameters for the director, such as buffer-to-buffer credit
(BB_Credit), R_A_TOV, E_D_TOV, preferred domain ID, switch priority, domain register for
state change notifications (domain RSCNs), preferred and insistent domain ID, director
speed (Director 2/64 only), and rerouting delay.
• Individual ports with a port name describing the node attached to the port.
• Keys for new features.
• Link incident (LIN) alerts.
• Interoperability mode for multiswitch fabrics.
• Open Trunking if the optional Open Trunking feature is installed.
• Preferred paths for interswitch links (ISLs).
