Introduction
The HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite offers software bundles that integrate HP Serviceguard
(SG) with the Veritas Storage Foundation™ by Symantec (SF) providing powerful database and storage
management capabilities while maintaining the mission-critical reliability of HP Serviceguard.
The HP software contained in the Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundles includes:
HP Serviceguard
HP Serviceguard Manager
HP Serviceguard Extension for RAC (SGeRAC)
Enterprise Cluster Master Toolkit (ECMT)
The Veritas™ software by Symantec contained in the Serviceguard Storage Management Suite
bundles includes:
Storage Foundation Standard and Enterprise (includes Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) and Veritas
File System (VxFS))
Storage Foundation for Oracle
®
(Standard and Enterprise) (Built Upon Veritas Storage Foundation)
Storage Foundation Cluster File System (CFS) (includes Veritas Cluster Volume Manager (CVM))
Storage Foundation for Oracle RAC (Built Upon Veritas Storage Foundation)
The software products included in these bundles are fully integrated, thoroughly tested, and supported
and available only through HP. HP also resells the non-HA versions of the Storage Foundation.
Purpose of document
The goal of this white paper is to show which applications might benefit from the Serviceguard
Storage Management Suite, based on use cases. The use cases described in this document are
application examples that will take advantage of the features provided by the Serviceguard Storage
Management Suite. This white paper also addresses the decision criteria for selecting among the
bundles. The Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Release Notes are the excellent resource for
details on release specific features and performance enhancements for each Serviceguard Storage
