 Asynchronous File System I/O (/dev/async): Normally, direct I/O is synchronous and that can

downgrade write performance significantly. For example, an application would block on a write

I/O until the write completes.

With Asynchronous File System I/O, the direct I/O is also asynchronous in the same way as it is

when the database is deployed on raw volumes.

Users interested in the Veritas Storage Foundation for Oracle features but having no need for high

availability can choose HP Storage Management for Oracle (T2789xx) instead of SGSMO.

T2774xx: HP Serviceguard Storage Management for Oracle Premium

The HP Serviceguard Storage Management for Oracle Premium (SGSMOP) is an integrated product

bundle that includes Serviceguard high availability clustering with Symantec’s VxVM and VxFS, plus

special database accelerators for Oracle that provide the performance of raw mode with the

manageability of a file system. This premium bundle also includes Dynamic Storage Tiering and

FlashSnap technologies. This bundle includes the following individual components:

The target applications for this bundle are Oracle single-instance databases that could benefit from

the database accelerator and the premium Storage Foundation features like Storage Mapping to a

LUN Level and Database FlashSnap features.

Management for Oracle Premium products are already included in the OEs.
