operating environment
As an operating environment (OE), HP-UX 11i is a perfect complement to the rp8400 server.
HP-UX 11i is HP’s complete 64-bit UNIX operating environment that delivers significant scalability
and performance for demanding applications. When teamed with HP’s leading server systems,
HP-UX 11i provides the power of supercomputing at a fraction of the cost.
The HP Server rp8400 will also support Windows and Linux in the future. And with Intel Itanium
processor support, you will be able to chose among three operating systems—and will even be
able to use a different OS in each partition.
hp-ux 11i support
HP-UX 11i blends an extraordinarily robust kernel, blazing performance, and excellent scalability
with a wealth of industry-leading add-ons from HP and third-party vendors. The result is an operating
system that is simply without peer for the demands of end-to-end Internet-critical computing.
The rp8400 is supported by HP-UX 11i, June 2001 release or later.

choice of hp-ux operating
HP’s engineers have packaged HP-UX 11i in a variety of operating environments, each aimed at
environments
a specific type of computing. These operating environments offer more focused functionality,
easier ordering, and easier maintenance, all at a lower cost. Figure 20 shows the contents of the
various HP-UX 11i operating environments.
