The following illustration shows a ProLiant ML370 Generation 2 server
installed in a Compaq rack. Install heavier devices, such as UPS units, in the
lower rack positions.

You can choose the optional installation service from Compaq to install your
rack products. See “Optional Installation Service” in Chapter 2, “Planning the
Server Installation,” for additional information.
Rack and Server Installation Guidelines
Follow the guidelines in Chapter 2, “Planning the Server Installation,” to plan
an optimum environment and to install your ProLiant ML370 Generation 2
server in a rack properly and safely. Be aware of all rack and server warnings
listed in the chapter and throughout this guide.
IMPORTANT: Ensure that your rack meets all recommended space and airflow
requirements for your server.
Install any optional hardware components before installing and powering up
the server for the first time. See Chapter 3, “Installing Hardware Options,” for
instructions on installing PCI expansion boards, memory, processors, hot-plug
and non-hot-plug expansion boards, and other major hardware options.
IMPORTANT: Use the SmartStart for Servers CD to install option drivers.
