IMPORTANT: Retain the slot cover for later use. PCI expansion slots must be populated
with either an expansion board or a slot cover to maintain proper temperature conditions.
Installing a Non-Hot-Plug Expansion Board
CAUTION: To avoid the risk of damage to your system or non-hot-plug
expansion boards, remove all AC power cords before installing or removing
non-hot-plug expansion boards. Moving the Power On/Standby button to the off
position still provides auxiliary power to the PCI expansion slot and may damage
the board or other system components.
To install a non-hot-plug expansion board:
1. Open the PCI slot release lever and remove the expansion slot cover.
See “Removing an Expansion Slot Cover” in this chapter.
2. Press the PCI guide clip out toward the center wall to release. The clip
locks into an open position until the board is secured.
NOTE: The PCI guide is used to assist in aligning and securing a full-sized expansion
board.

3. Position the expansion board above the expansion slot and use the PCI
guide to align the board with the slot.
