CAUTION: Electrostatic discharge can damage electronic components. Properly
ground yourself before beginning any installation procedure. See Appendix B,
“Electrostatic Discharge,” for more information.
To install a DIMM in an available DIMM slot:
1. Power down the server. See “Powering Down the Server” in this
chapter.
2. Remove the access panel. See “Removing the Access Panel” in this
chapter.
3. Identify the correct DIMM slots and banks. See “Identifying DIMM
Slots” in this chapter.
IMPORTANT: Memory modules must be installed in pairs so that both slots in the bank
are populated with identical DIMMs.
4. Open the DIMM slot latches .
5. Align the key slot in the bottom edge of the DIMM with the tab in the
slot

IMPORTANT: DIMMs do not seat if turned the wrong way.
6. Press down evenly on the DIMM until it is seated securely in the slot
and the latches close.
7. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to install the second DIMM in the pair.
