3. Press the Power On/Standby button to power down the server.
The system power LED turns amber when the server is powered down
in this manner to indicate that auxiliary power is still present in the
system. When you remove power from the system completely by
removing all power cords, the power LED turns off.
WARNING: Setting the server Power On/Standby button to the off position
removes power from most areas of the server; this process may take
30 seconds. Portions of the power supply and some internal circuitry remain
active until the AC power cord is disconnected.
If the server has multiple power supplies installed, it is necessary to remove all
power cords to remove all power from the system.
NOTE: On the tower server, open the front bezel to reach the Power On/Standby button.

4. Remove all power cords from the server.
5. Remove all peripheral cables from the server’s rear panel, including
cables extending from external connectors on expansion boards.
The system is now without power and you can safely install all hardware
options.
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove power from the server before installing hot-plug
components.
