If the server completes POST and attempts to load the operating system, go to
the “Problems After Initial Boot” section in this appendix.
Diagnostic Steps
If your server does not power up, or powers up but does not complete POST,
answer the questions in the following table as numbered to determine
appropriate actions based on the symptoms observed. The flow of questions
reflects the usual flow of events during a power-on sequence. A flow chart
following this table illustrates the recommended diagnostic steps and decision
points.
According to the answers you give, you are directed to the appropriate table in
the section that immediately follows. That table outlines possible reasons for
the problem, options available to assist in diagnosis, possible solutions, and
references to other sources of information.
