External SCSI Hard Drives
Follow these general guidelines when adding external SCSI hard drives:
A maximum of 14 SCSI devices per port can be supported externally
(only six internally).
Each SCSI drive must have a unique ID.
CAUTION: All data on the hard drive can be lost when you install the Smart
Array 5i Controller for the first time or when you migrate from a non-array
controller. Back up all data before migrating your drives to an intelligent array
configuration
.
External Storage Devices
Your Compaq ProLiant ML370 Generation 2 server supports external storage
devices through the SCSI connector on the rear panel of the server or through
an auxiliary VHDCI SCSI connector provided with the Smart Array 5i
Controller.
The following illustration shows a ProLiant ML370 Generation 2 tower server
cabled to an external storage device through the rear panel SCSI connector.
