Internal Cabling Configuration
When the Smart Array 5i Controller is installed, you can use both the Smart
Array 5i connectors and the SCSI connectors on the system board for
connecting SCSI devices. However, it is not possible to use a single channel to
support both internal and external drives at the same time. The following
illustrations show cabling configurations for internal SCSI hard drives and
internal tape drives with the Smart Array 5i Controller.

External Cabling Configuration
Your Smart Array 5i Controller option kit includes an auxiliary VHDCI SCSI
cable for connecting external SCSI devices through the auxiliary VHDCI SCSI
blank on the rear panel of your server.
