3. Route the SCSI cable through the cable management clips along the
floor and sidewall of the chassis.
NOTE: Follow cable management guidelines to maximize your system’s performance.
If you do not intend to install additional options or configure cabling for an
external storage device at this time, go directly to Installing the Center Wall,
in this chapter.
Cabling with an Auxiliary VHDCI SCSI Cable
The Smart Array 5i Controller can be cabled to an external storage device
through the auxiliary external VHDCI SCSI port on the rear panel of the
server. The auxiliary connector is provided in the option kit and can be
installed in addition to internal connectors.
To cable the Smart Array 5i Controller to an external storage device with the
auxiliary VHDCI SCSI cable:
1. Locate the auxiliary VHDCI SCSI blank on the rear panel of the server.

2. Use the short end of the Torx T-15 tool provided with your server
remove the screw from the auxiliary blank.
3. Remove the blank and screws from the chassis.
