Install the drive.
4. Determine the status of the drive from the drive LED definitions (on page 12).
Installing a non-hot-plug drive
CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless
all bays are populated with either a component or a blank.
1. Power down the server (on page 16).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Remove the non-hot-plug drive carrier.
4. Remove the two metal brackets from the drive carrier.
