The components of the NAP platform consist of conventional network
resources and NAP-specific components:
■ NAP client
The NAP client is a NAP-capable endpoint. The necessary components,
which are described later, are included with Windows Vista and Windows
XP (SP3).
■ NAP enforcement point
A NAP enforcement point can be a DHCP server; a VPN server; an IEEE
802.1X-enabled switch or access point (AP); or a health registration
authority (HRA), which is a Windows Server 2008 with Internet Informa-
tion Services (IIS). The VPN and DHCP enforcement points must run on
a Windows Server 2008 as well.
