Addendum to the ProCurve Access Control Security Design Guide
Overview
Overview
Designing an access control solution is an ongoing process, which must be
changed over time to protect corporate networks against emerging threats.
This process must also be re-evaluated as existing products are enhanced with
new features and new products are brought to market. Keeping the process
up-to-date allows you to take advantage of the latest technologies so that you
can always implement and enforce the tightest security controls for your
organization.
Designed to be used in conjunction with the ProCurve Access Control Secu-
rity Design Guide, this addendum lists the main enhancements provided by
the ProCurve Access Control Solution 2.1. It also describes Microsoft Network
Access Protection (NAP), explaining how the ProCurve Access Control Solu-
tion integrates with NAP.
Finally, this addendum updates the access control design process to include
both the ProCurve Access Control Solution 2.1 and Microsoft NAP: Specifi-
cally, it adds a new step to the design process—selecting the option for
endpoint integrity—outlining the differences between the ProCurve Network
Access Controller (NAC) 800 and Microsoft NAP and providing some guide-
lines for choosing between the two. This addendum also updates a step
described in the Design Guide—selecting an endpoint integrity deployment
method.
