DIGITAL IMAGING MONITOR
Digital Imaging Monitor (circled in red) runs in the background and is
installed on the Microsoft Windows’ task bar. With just a quick glance,
users can check device status (the icon glows green when the Officejet
4500 is ready). Solution Center can be launched by double-clicking on
the icon.
When users right-click on the Digital Imaging Monitor icon, the above
options launch.
TOOLBOX
Toolbox indicates current ink-cartridge status
(Estimated Ink Levels tab), and provides a link
for shopping online for HP products and
supplies. Toolbox may also be launched from
the print driver, as well as from Solution Center.
The Device Services tab provides options for
performing maintenance, such as aligning and
cleaning the print head.
The Network Settings tab displays current
network configuration. Select Change Settings
to launch the Network Toolbox utility.
Using Network Toolbox, users may configure
network settings, as well as run network
diagnostics via the Utilities tab.
SMART WEB PRINTING UTILITY
HP’s Smart Web Printing Utility provides easier, more concise printing of
Web pages. Users can select and combine Web pages from different Web
sites, and eliminate blank pages and areas, saving paper and ink. In the
screen capture to the left, the Smart Printing workspace enables users to
select and edit portions of Web pages, and then print only selected
content.
Once the user has selected their content, they can lay out how content will
appear on the printed page, resize areas, and even add text. The page or
pages may then be printed or saved as an Adobe PDF. The Smart Web
Printing Utility is highly recommended for users printing many Web
pages—it will save time, ink and paper, and will also help users produce
more attractively laid-out printed Web pages.
