These tests show that the hostname gets filtered out for account umeter. If any of the masquerading tests
do not work, check the sendmail configuration file and ensure the email masquerading is implemented
(through the DM macro):
IMPORTANT: The domainname must be resolvable in DNS for HP to accept email from the Utility Meter.
2.10 Configuring PPU Partitions and URS Devices
Depending on whether the Utility Meter will be metering Pay per use (PPU) server partitions or Utility Ready
Storage (URS) devices (or both), see the following for configuration information:
• For Pay per use (PPU) server partitions that need to be metered by the Utility Meter, configure the PPU
partitions by adding them as a PPU WBEM Partition/Server. PPU server partitions can also be configured
using the appropriate PPU Agent software command on each PPU partition, but configuring server
partitions by adding them as a PPU WBEM Partition/Server is the preferred method. For more information
about configuration via PPU Agent software, see the specific
PPU User's Guide
, which can be located
in Related Documentation.
• For URS devices that need to be metered by the Utility Meter, configure the devices in the Utility Meter
GUI. For more information about this type of configuration, see Utility Meter Devices Tasks
2.11 Verifying the Utility Meter Operation
You must verify the operation of the Utility Meter for any of the following changes:
• The HP-UX system parameters were modified
• The Utility Meter software was installed or reinstalled
• The Utility Meter parameters were modified
For details of verifying the operation of the Utility meter, see Chapter 4: “Verifying Utility Meter Operation”.
IMPORTANT: You should perform all procedures in the Utility Meter verification chapter.
2.12 Completing the Utility Meter Installation and Configuration
Make sure to close the Utility Meter GUI and log out from the Utility Meter system to complete the Utility
Meter installation and configuration.
2.13 Upgrading the Utility Meter Software to Version 8.13
If you want to upgrade the Utility Meter software to version 8.13, you must install the 8.13 software and
then configure all required Utility Meter parameters through the Utility Meter GUI. The Utility Meter parameters
are entered from values provided in Appendix A “Site Preparation Form for Pay Per Use” or Appendix B “Site
Preparation Form for Utility Ready Storage”.
NOTE: You do not need to uninstall previous versions of the Utility Meter software prior to version 8.13
installation.
If you are upgrading the Utility Meter software to 8.13, follow this procedure:
1. Copy the /etc/opt/meter/meter.xml file to a safe location. The meter.xml file contains the
current Utility Meter configuration information and can be useful in case you need to reference the Utility
Meter configuration information of the previous software version at a later time.
2. If the Utility Meter is configured to use the email data transport, move the existing sendmail configuration
file to a safe location. (The default location is /etc/mail/sendmail.cf, but the existing sendmail
configuration file can be in a different location.)
3. Stop the Utility Meter application by executing the following command:
# /opt/meter/bin/monitor stop
