DESCRIPTION
HP Media Robot Utility (MRU) is a multiplatform soft-
ware utility that provides direct robotic control for HP
DLT (Digital Linear Tape), Super DLT and 4mm (DAT)
loaders, the TL8nn libraries, and the TKZ loaders. This
product provides the ability for the user to load a car-
tridge from a selected robot slot into a specified robot
drive and unload the cartridge from the drive. It also
provides the user the ability to move the cartridge from
slot/drive/port to slot/drive/port if the hardware device
qualifies the move.
The commands qualified are:
• Load—Moves a cartridge from slot to drive.
• Unload—Moves a cartridge from drive to slot.
• Inject—Moves a cartridge from port to slot.
• Eject—Moves a cartridge from slot to port.
• Move—Moves a cartridge from slot/drive/port to slot
/drive/port as long as the hardware device qualifies
the move.
• Show—Displays information.
• Ready—Allows opening the import mechanism door
on member robots of the TL82x family of libraries.
• Lock/Unlock—Prevents or allows media removal on
robots that qualifies this feature.
• Help—Displays information on the commands.
• Position—Moves the changer mechanism to an el-
ement.
• Find Cartridge—Locates cartridges by external bar-
code label.
• Initialize—Inventories the robot.
• Home—Returns cartridge to previous location.
• Reserve—Reserves the device for exclusive use on
the host.
• Release—Releases the device from exclusive use
on the host.
MRU software provides a command line interface,
graphic user interface, and application programming in-
terface for Windows® XP, Tru64 UNIX®, and OpenVMS
operating systems.
