Misconfigurations and Optimizations Report 869
If the same VLAN ID had been used on all three switches, for example
ID=4, then 3Com Network Director would only list one VLAN in the Show
VLANs toolbar and the Find dialog:
Accounts (ID=4)
A more likely use of inconsistent VLANs is shown below:
One router is using VLAN ID=2 for subnet A, the other router is using
VLAN ID=3 for the same subnet. The VLANs with IDs 2 and 3 are in fact
the same VLAN - subnet A. While this is a valid configuration, it is good
practice to use the same VLAN ID consistently to identify a VLAN. 3Com
Network Director will report this as a misconfiguration and will display
these as two different VLANs.
To avoid this misconfiguration being reported in the future, and to avoid
3Com Network Director listing multiple VLANs for each real VLAN, the
same VLAN ID should be configured on all switches.
Inconsistent VLAN
naming
3Com Network Director will report a misconfiguration if the same VLAN
(same VLAN ID) is configured on two different switches with different
names. It is good practice to use the same name consistently when
configuring VLANs.
