Bridging between VLANs can cause the same MAC address to appear on
different ports. See example below. If the host on VLAN1 sends a packet
to the server on VLAN2, the packet first goes to the switch and is learned
on port X in VLAN1. The packet then goes to the brouter. If the protocol
being used is one that is being bridged as opposed to routed, then the
brouter will bridge the packet back to the switch. Thus the host MAC
address is also learned on port Y on VLAN2.
