844 APPENDIX A: SUPPORTED DEVICES
8 Webcache 1000/3000 - Importing agent software from disk is not
supported for this device. Agent software can only be obtained using Live
Update.
9 If you intend to upgrade agent software on a Wireless Access Point 8000,
3Com recommends that you consult the readme file supplied with the
Access Point 8000 first.
10 Switch 1100/3300 with Layer 3 Module - Attempting to upgrade a stack
of Switch 1100/3300 units, which contain a Layer 3 module can fail if the
Layer 3 module has been given an IP address, but the unit in which it
resides does not have an IP address. To prevent this problem from
occurring, you should ensure that the unit in which the Layer 3 module
resides has an IP address.
11 The Agent Update operations may fail if the target device has multiple IP
addresses, but not all of these addresses have been detected by 3Com
Network Director.
This can occur if the device is allocated additional IP addresses after the
network map is discovered.
To prevent this situation from occurring, please ensure that the network
map is up-to-date before attempting an Agent Update operation.
12 Agent Audit Report - The agent audit report displays the location of the
latest agent, for devices whose agent is out-of-date. Currently, this will be
either:
"Live Update" - for agents that are available via Live Update, or "Local"
- for agents that have already been imported onto the local system.
However, if an agent is imported from disk and then manually deleted
from the local system, the report will show "Live Update" as the location
of the agent, even if the agent is not available from Live Update.
13 Switch 1100/3300 - These devices consider agent files that have been
renamed as incompatible with the device. Therefore, renaming an agent
file and attempting to upgrade the device using the renamed file will fail.
However, Agent Upgrade will report this failure as being caused by the
device not responding, not an incompatibility. To prevent this from
occurring, do not rename agent files.
If you have already renamed and imported an agent file onto your local
system, you will need to delete the previously imported agent file from
3Com Network Director's inventory of imported agents, and re-import
