For Switch 4007 devices only, the management PC should be directly
connected to the EME management module to ensure that
communication is not lost during a Device Restore or Device Setup
operation.
2 Device Backup, Restore and Setup operations may fail if the target device
has multiple IP addresses, but not all of these addresses have been
detected by 3Com Network Director.
This can occur if the device is allocated additional IP addresses after the
network map is discovered.
To prevent this from occurring, please ensure that the network map is
up-to-date before attempting a Device Backup, Restore or Setup
operation.
3 For security purposes, the Device Backup operation does not backup the
user information, community strings or RADIUS shared secret of the
selected devices. Therefore, this information will not be changed by the
Device Restore or Device Setup operations (see point 4 below for
exceptions).
The following devices are exceptions to this rule, storing their
configuration in a non-readable binary format, and so they do backup
and restore both the user and community string information:
Switch 4005
Switch 4007
4 The Device Restore and Setup operations will reset all user passwords and
RADIUS shared secrets (where supported) to their factory defaults, on the
following devices:
Switch 610
Switch 630
Switch 1100
Switch 3300
Switch 4400
It is strongly recommended that the user passwords are manually
re-configured, using the device's Command Line Interface (CLI),
