Modifying the list of selected switches and ports
The first stage of the wizard lists the switches and switch ports on which
the VLANs are to be edited and allows you to modify this list. For
example, because it is not possible to select unconnected ports on the
network map, these can be added at this point in the wizard.
Figure 299 Adding Unconnected Ports
This wizard stage is pre-populated with switches and switch ports, based
on the items that were selected on the network map when the wizard
was launched. The rules used are the same as those for the
corresponding stage in the Create VLAN wizard, namely:
■ For each switch in the initial map selection, all ports connected to
other switches in the map selection are listed.
■ For each non-switch in the map selection, 3Com Network Director will
find the nearest switch port to the non-switch and add this switch and
port to the list.
■ For each link in the map selection, if either of the devices is a switch, it
will be processed using the first rule above. If either of the devices in a
non-switch, it will be processed using the second rule above.
This wizard stage behaves in a similar manner to the corresponding stage
in the Create VLAN wizard – see “
Modifying the list of selected switches
and ports” on page 539 for details.
