Figure 269 Naming the VLAN
When choosing which name to use, 3Com Network Director gives
preference to Layer 3 switches and switches with the most VLANs
configured. This is likely to result in 3Com Network Director choosing the
name configured on the most core switch in the VLAN. If a VLAN has not
been configured with the same name on all switches, there will be an
entry in the Misconfigurations and Optimizations report warning the user
of this fact. See
Inconsistent VLAN naming on page 535. This
Misconfigurations and Optimizations report entry will also inform the
user of the name that 3Com Network Director has selected to use to refer
to the VLAN in the rest of the application.
Multiple discrete VLANs with the same VLAN ID but different
VLAN names
If the VLAN lists contain only one entry per VLAN ID option has been
selected in the VLANs tab of the Tools > Options dialog box there are
some situations where the format of the textual description used to refer
to a VLAN will be:
ID=xxxx
