particular interest.
Obtain more information on events that, for events that indicate
abnormal network occurrences, includes possible causes and
suggested resolutions to prevent the event from occurring in future.
View recent and long-term history for the monitors that led to events
that indicate abnormal network occurrences being generated.
Control how events are generated and consolidated.
Enable automatic notification of new events, via e-mail, pager, or
various other means.
Event Types
There are three basic types of event that may be generated, depending
upon the source that was used to generate the event. These are:
monitor-based events
SNMP trap-based events
3Com Network Director internal events
Monitor-Based Events
Monitor-based events are generated as a result of an active monitor for a
device or link entering a state that indicates an abnormal network
condition.
When a monitor-based event is generated 3Com Network Director logs
details of the state of the monitor in the time immediately before and
after the event. You may view this historical state from within the More
Details dialog box. See
Graphs Tab on page 346.
