Monitoring and
Logged Data
Monitors are used as the data source for almost all information that
3Com Network Director gathers about the state of your network.In
addition to providing live graph information and generating events, they
are used for logging data for historical reports.
This means that if you do not monitor a device or link you will not have
any data available for generating historical reports for that item.Similarly,
if you temporarily stop monitoring a device or link there will be gaps in
the data available for historical reports.

Text Displayed in
Graphs
The graphs displayed in the Live Graphs window and the Detailed Graph
dialog box may sometimes have text displayed across them.This text is
displayed when 3Com Network Director has no current monitoring state
for the monitor.The following text may appear:
Waiting…The monitor has just been started, and is in the process of
gathering its initial data so that it may determine the monitor’s state.
