2 Using HPDM Migration kit

This chapter addresses the following topics:

Using HPDM Migration kit

To install the HPDM Migration kit, complete the following steps:

1. DownloadtheHPDMMigrationkitfromthefollowingHPwebsiteat:

2. Log in as roo

t to the host system.

3. Copy the Mi

gration kit tar package to a temporary d irectory (for example,/tmp/

HPDMmigration).

4. To unbundle the package, enter the following commands:

# cd /tmp/H

PDMmigration

# tar -xvzf HPDMmigration--<version.tar.gz>

5. Verify that the directory contains the migration.pl script and README.txtﬁle.

6. To start th

e migration process, enter the following command:

# ./migration.pl

7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the migration steps.

8. Reboot the

system.

HPDM Migrating Process

This section p rovides the detailed information about the different phases of migration process. Each of the

phases are carried out interactively in ./migration.pl migration script.

Following are the phases for HPDM Migrating Process:

• Pre-Migration

• Installing HPDM Multipath

•Post-Migration

Pre-Migration

The Pre-Migration phase preforms the following functions:

• Unmoun

ts the mounted ﬁle system.

• Deactivates and exports the Volume group(s)

• Collects the Qlogic failover/Emulex multipulse device names and UUIDs of the device.

This phase prepares your system for the installation of the HPDMmultipath software kit.
