Migration Guide Migration from Qlogic Failover/Emulex Multipulse to HP Device Mapper Multipath (AA-RWFCC-TE, March 2008)

NOTE:
The script performs backup operation on /etc/fstab file at /var/Migration/fstab.bkup,
Volume group metadata files at /etc/lvm/backup directory.
The Qlogic/Emulex device information is stored in /var/Migration/dev_info.txt.
Installing HPDM Multipath
The installation phase installs the HPDM multipath tools. You need to provide the c omplete path of the
HPDM multipath software kit.
Post-Migration
The Post-Migration phase preforms the following functions:
• Maps the Qlogic failover/Emulex multipulse device names to the HPDM multipath device names
to their corresponding LUN WWN.
• Updates the /etc/fstab with HPDM Multipath device names by replacing the Qlogic
failover/Emulex multipulse device names.
• Restores the Volume group(s) metadata information, imports and a ctivates the volume group(s).
• Remove the Qlogic failover/Emulex failover driver. Configures the Qlogic/Emulex HBA
parameters to H PDM multipath recommended values an d creates the new initrd image.
NOTE:
The Map information is stored in /var/Migration/map_dev.txt. Each line in this file is of the
format: <device name> <HPDM multipath device name><UUID>.
