Troubleshooting Terminal, Printer, and Serial Device Connections - Edition 5 (32022-90058)

TermDSM Commands
DI[AG]
Chapter 4
52
cardnum
Number of the interface card within the DTC to which the device is
connected. The cards are numbered from zero beginning at the bottom
of the DTC. (Note that SNP cards may not be mounted in slot 0 or 1 for
DTC 16, and slot 0 for DTC 48.)
Description
Determines if the SNP hardware is functioning properly. This internal loopback test is
executed only if X.25 is not started on this SNP (X25 Level 1, 2, and 3). No external
connections are required.
All loopback tests are disruptive in the sense they will abort any existing VC connections
on that SNP. Other SNPs in the DTC will not be effected.
When the subcommand is entered the following question is asked:
Do you want to stop looping if an error is found (yes/no)?
If you answer yes, the loopback tests will stop if an error is encountered. The following is
then printed on the terminal:
How many times do you want to repeat this operation?
Enter the number of times you want to run this diagnostic function. Enter a number
between 1 and 65535. The following is then printed on the terminal:
Type CONTROL - Y to stop the looping.
You can use subsystem break (normally
[CTRL]-Y
to stop the diagnostic at any time. The
diagnostics prompt will be printed and you will be allowed to enter another
subcommand.
If TermDSM knows that this test has failed, an error message will be printed listing the
reason for the failure and how many milliseconds the test ran before failing. The
diagnostics prompt will be printed and you will be allowed to enter another
subcommand.
DI[AG] XE[XTERNAL]
Determines if the SNP hardware and the physical connection is functioning properly.
The external loopback test is executed only if the SNP is not started. External
connections are required only for the V.35, the V.36, and the RS-422 interface. (External
loopback is not available for the DTC 72MX.)
Security level: 2.
