SNA/SDLC Link Overview
SNA/SDLC Link Overview
SNA/SDLC Link is composed of hardware and software:
• Programmable Serial Interface card (PSI) or Advanced
Communication Controller card and cables (hardware)
• SNA Transport (software)
• SDLC or SDLCMUX link driver (software)
The hardware of SNA/SDLC Link (the PSI and cables) and the
downloaded SNA Transport software implement the Physical Control
layer of SNA, and the SDLC or SDLCMUX link driver implements the
Data Link Control layer. The SDLC or SDLCMUX link driver controls
transmission over the communications line.
Figure 1-1 shows how SNA/SDLC Link and the SNA services
implement HP e3000-to-IBM host communication.
