Use external packet filtering
§MPE network transport lacks packet filtering
§Many MPE network services can allow or disallow by IP
address, but this can be cumbersome to manage
§Use an external firewall or other network device to block
all but explicitly authorized packets, I.e.:
– port 23 (telnet)
– port 80 (http)
– port 1570 (vt)
– source IP addresses from your intranet
