Configuring Systems for Terminals, Printers, and Other Serial Devices (32022-90057)
Migrating from Previous Releases
Migrating your Configuration to Host-Based Management

PAD Printer PR26AUTO
6. It is likely that when the migration is completed, you will need to do some manual
changes to the resulting configuration file to reapply some customizations. The types
of customizations include:
• Define additional profiles to assign unique port parameters
• Complete the configuration of the TIO and PAD devices if a DTC with the same
DTC Node Name was not configured in the PC tree or corresponding devices
were not configured on the PC–Based DTC
• Create the Global PAD Security Lists which consist of the Node Names List and
the Access Lists
Limitations
The migration process has the following limitations. When the Host Migration tool is
run, the result could leave the following discrepancies in the NMCONFIG file that you
must correct to have a valid configuration. When the Host Migration tool is run, there
will be error messages displayed that indicate the nature of the error.
1. If the PC Migration tool created a DTC in the Host-based tree that does not exist in
the PC-Based tree (a DTC with a matching DTC Node Name was not found), the TIO
ports will be left with the ldev assigned as (-1). This is an invalid ldev number for
TIO printers and will be detected by Validation. You must manually correct the
configuration.
2. If the PC Migration tool created a DTC in the Host-based tree that does not exist in
the PC-Based tree (a DTC with a matching DTC Node Name was not found), any
PAD devices will be assigned ldev of 1. This is an invalid ldev number for PAD
devices and will be detected by Validation. You must manually correct the
configuration.
3. If the card type configured in the Host-Based DTC does not match the card type in
the PC-Based DTC then the card is not merged into the Host-based tree and the
Host-based DTC will have the same configuration discrepancies as described in
paragraph 1 and 2.
4. f the port type of TIO or PAD devices in the Host-based tree does not match the port
type of the port in the PC based tree, then the PC-Based port configuration is not
merged with Host-based configuration. The port will have the same configuration
discrepancies as described in paragraph 1 and 2.
5. If a PAD device name is defined in the PC-Based DTC that is not defined in the
Host-Based DTC, the device will have no X.25 address assigned. This is an invalid
PAD device configuration and will be detected by Validation. You must manually
correct the configuration.
6. If a DTC exists in the PC based tree that was not created in the Host-based tree (a
DTC with a matching DTC Node Name was not found), then the DTC will be copied
to the Host-Based tree as a non-managed DTC. (LAN Address = 00-00-00-00-00-00).
All ports with an ldev number assigned in the DTC will be assigned the default
profiles.
7. If you want to define unique parameters for ports, i.e., port name, you will be limited
to the 1024 unique profiles available for the DTS subsystem.
