Migrating your Configuration to Host-Based
Management
This section describes the process that you can use to migrate the majority of the
configuration of your DTCs from PC-Based Management to Host-based Management.
This process is only performed on the HPe3000 system that you want to manage your
DTCs. If you have other systems that share the DTCs you do not need to make any
changes to the configuration on those systems.
This section also describes the process that you can use to migrate the majority of the
configuration from the OpenView DTC Manager PC to the HPe3000 Host. The tool
needed to perform this migration is available as a patch to the OpenView DTC Manager
product. Contact HP Support for information on how to obtain this patch.
There are two tools that are required to perform the complete process for migrating your
configuration from the OpenView DTC Manager to the Hpe3000 host.
These two tools are:
The PC Migration Tool that is integrated into the OpenView DTC Manager. This tool
will be accessed via an added function of the Multiple DTC Operations tool and will
create a text file that contains the NMMGR Maintenance Mode commands needed to
create an equivalent configuration on the HPe3000 host
The Host Migration Tool that is integrated into NMMGRVER. This tool will read the
configuration in the PC-Based tree of the NMCONFIG file and merge it into the
Host-based tree. If you have performed the process to migrate your OpenView DTC
Manager configuration onto this system NMMGRVER will also merge with the
configuration created by the PC tool in the Host-based tree.
The tool needed to migrate your configuration to Host-based management is included in
a set of patches that also provide the enhanced features for the Host-Based DTC
Management documented elsewhere in this manual. This functionality is available in
the following set of patches. Future patches of each of these products will also include
these features.
