Data transfer Specifies the mode of data transfer in back-to-back connections. Field
may be either ASCII or binary. Default is ASCII.
Number of stop bits Specifies the number of stop bits to be used for asynchronous
characters. The possible values are 1 or 2 stop bits. Default value is 1.
Enter a 1 to set 1 stop bit. Enter a 2 to set 2 stop bits. This is applicable
only for DTC 72MX, DTC 16MX and DTC 16iX. This field does not
apply for DTC 16RX access to an HP 3000 in an MPE/iX host-based
management environment, and any value entered in this field for a
DTC 16RX will be ignored.
Enable port? Specifies whether communication can pass through the port. If
disabled, no communication can pass through the port. Default is Y.
Hardware handshaking? Specifies whether hardware handshake will be used.
Hardware handshake uses modem signals CTS and RTS to pace the
data transfer from the DTC to the attached device. Default is N.
(Supported on DTC 16iX/16MX and DTC 72MX only.)
Automatic connection? Enables automatic connection capability of the port. When
enabled, the port will automatically connect to the system specified in
the “Destination node name” field. The connection will be
established when the port senses the rise of the modem signals of the
device connected to the port. Field can be enabled on modem ports only
(“Modem behavior” field on Terminal Profile screen must be set to 1,
2, or 3). Default is N.
Enable flow control? Specifies whether to enable flow control between DTC port and
connected device. If set to Y, flow control is made with XON/XOFF
characters. If set to N, the XON/XOFF characters sent from device are
not interpreted by DTC. This function is also known as “software
handshake”. This field does not apply for DT C16RX access to an
HP 3000 in an MPE/iX host-based management environment and any
value entered in this field for a DTC 16RX will be ignored.
Enable keep alive? Specifies whether “keep alive” mechanism is to be activated.
When there is no data transfer between the DTC and the system, then
the “keep alive” mechanism is used to detect if the connection is still
there. The default value is Y (enable). Enter an N to disable the field.
Not applicable for DTC 48 without the memory extension.
Enq/Ack flow control? Enables enq/ack flow control. Enq/ack flow control is needed
when the host port is connected to MPE/V systems. Default is Y.
Save port config in binary? Specifies whether the port configuration parameters;
data length and parity, get forced when binary mode is selected. If set
to Y, then the port configuration remains the same when binary mode
is selected. If set to N, then data length is forced to 8 and parity to none
when binary mode is selected. Default value of this field is N Only
applicable for new DTCs.
Destination node name Optional field which specifies the system to which the port will
connect if “Automatic connection? field is enabled. A name must be
entered if “Automatic connection?” is enabled.
Initialization string Optional field which specifies the string that will be sent to
the attached device under one of the following circumstances:
