Preparing to Configure DTCs
Plan the Network

Plan the Network
Before configuration can begin, the physical layout and configuration parameters for the
systems, the DTCs, the OpenView Windows Workstation, and the connected devices on
the LAN must be defined. This information must be translated into terms that the
MPE/iX operating system can understand and use.
For example, a node name for the system must be indicated and a link name must be
specified. Additionally, the physical path for the LANIC must be identified. Each DTC
needs a name and the devices connected to it will have characteristics associated with
them.
Once this information is entered in the configuration file (NMCONFIG.PUB.SYS), the
system can communicate with each device connected to the DTC. HP e3000 Series 900
uses a utility called NMMGR to enter configuration information into the
NMCONFIG.PUB.SYS file.
On the pages that follow, information and worksheets are provided to help define these
required configuration parameters.
