Configuring Systems for Terminals, Printers, and Other Serial Devices (32022-90057)

Migrating from Previous Releases
Migrating your Configuration to Host-Based Management
Appendix B
206
To launch the Host Migration tool to merge the PC-based DTC configurations into
the Host-based configuration.
These two methods allow you to upgrade your configuration to the latest release and to
migrate the DTC configured in the PC based configuration to Host-Based Management
with the minimum of interruptions in your system operations.
Upgrade NMCONFIG Version after installation of the New Host-Based Release
Within the New Host-Based Management release, NMMGR and the DTS subsystem utilize
updated structures in the NMCONFIG file to manage the new Host-based functions. When
the system is rebooted after the release is installed, the NMCONFIG file is still the old
format. To allow the system to startup without error, the DTS subsystem will recognize
that the NMCONFIG file is the previous release and successfully startup the DTS
subsystem. You will see the following message indicating this:
DCC WARNING 15-22, NMCONFIG is previous version, Run NMMGRVER (DCCWARN=52)
If you run NMMGR but have not yet run NMMGRVER, you will see the following screen if you
press the [ DTS ] key at the NMMGR Main screen. This screen indicates that the NMCONFIG
file is still the old format and NMMGR can not make changes to the DTS subsystem.
Although the DTS subsystem is correctly configured, you will not be able to make
changes to the DTS configuration until you update the NMCONFIG file to the latest release
with NMMGRVER.

If you press the
[Do Convert]
key, NMMGR will automatically run NMMGRVER to allow you
to update the NMCONFIG file. Follow the instructions above “Running NMMGRVER to Update
Release Version”. When the update is complete, you can press the
[Prior Screen]
and
resume configuring the DTS subsystem.
