4 BOOTP Service
The Internet Boot Protocol daemon, or bootpd, is used to boot LAN devices such as routers, printers,
X-terminals, and diskless workstations. Nodes on the network use bootpd to get configuration information
such as an IP address and a subnet mask and automatically boot the device. This chapter describes:
• How to configure bootpd.
• How to start bootpd once it has been configured.
• Implementation differences between bootpd for MPE/iX and bootpd for HP-UX.
