Migrating from Previous Releases
Migrating your Configuration to Host-Based Management
Appendix A
178
What the Migration Process Can/Cannot Do
The Migration process will be able to migrate the following portions of the DTC’s
configurations from the OpenView DTC Manager PC to DTCs configured on the
HPe3000 host.
The following DTC types are migrated: DTC16, DTC48, DTC16iX, DTC16MX,
DTC72MX.
All Global LAN configuration parameters will be migrated to the Host.
All supported cards will be configured as the proper type and in the proper slots.
The port group configuration of the DTC16MX and DTC72MX are maintained.
All TIO ports and PAD devices will be configured as the same type as configured on
the PC. (terminal/printer/host, padterm/padprint).
All Terminal ports that aren’t configured with an ldev on the host will configure as a
non-nailed TIO port.
All of the following X.25 and PAD tables will be migrated intact.
Level 1 & 2 and Level 3 data
System to System Switching Table
System to System LUG Table
DTC PAD Switching Table
PAD Device Access Table
PAD Incoming Security Table
What will not be migrated:
The DTC Security lists: Node Names List; Define Access List
Unique TIO port and PAD device parameters will not be maintained. (See below)
TAC because it is long out of support and all functions have viable alternatives.
Assumptions and Limitations
The New Host-Based Management functionality provides a process to migrate a major
portion of the configuration on the OpenView DTC Manager PC to the HP e3000 host. In
order for the migration to work in the most consistent manner possible, the defined
process makes the following assumptions and compromises.
The process to migrate from PC-based DTC Management to Host-Based DTC
Management consists of the following major steps. These steps are described in more
detail later in this document.
1. Run the PC Migration tool on the OpenView DTC Manager PC and select the DTCs
that are to be managed on the HP e3000. The PC Migration tool will create a file that
contains the NMMGR Maintenance Mode commands needed to create an equivalent
configuration on the HP e3000 host.
