DNS BIND/iX

Introduction

DNS BIND/iX on MPE/iX 6.0 is an implementation of BIND

version 8.1.1, which has introduced many new features since the more

commonly used version 4.9.4, (with which the majority of experienced

DNS users will be familiar).

This is the latest version of BIND, 8.1.1. with features like:

• DNS Dynamic updates

• DNS change notiﬁcation

• completely new conﬁguration syntax

• ﬂexible and categorized logging system

• more efﬁcient zone transfers

The package contains a host of utilities and administration tools:

• nslookup — query Internet name servers interactively

• dig — Domain Information Groper

• host — look up host names using domain server

• addr — get address of host

• dnsquery — give all the DNS details and Mail exchange records
