Introducing 100VG-AnyLAN Network Adapter
Introducing 100VG-AnyLAN Network
Adapter

Overview
100VG-AnyLAN Network Adapter (B5426AA) is a high-speed network
link providing HP 3000 Series 900 systems that have HP-PB (HP
Precision Bus, also known as NIO) backplanes, with a connection to a
100VG local area network. The 100VG adapter connects to the 100 Mb/s
(Megabits per second) network through any 100VG hub or switch
meeting the IEEE 802.12 standards.
100VG-AnyLAN takes advantage of collision-avoidance and
noise-immunity characteristics of the 100VG protocol to provide high
network reliability. It provides an evolutionary path for HP 3000
customers needing increased throughput over their existing 10 Mb
LAN links.
100VG-AnyLAN Network Adapter is configured and managed the same
way as current ThinLAN, Token Ring, and FDDI 3000/iX link products.
100VG-AnyLAN Network Link includes the 100VG network adapter,
100 Mb driver components, and hardware product manuals. TCP/IP
Transport is already included with the HP 3000/iX fundamental
operating system (FOS).
Product Features
The product features include:
Supports ARPA, NS, NetIPC, and a subset of 4.3 BSD Sockets over
TCP/UDP/IP.
Supports current Netware and Appletalk products.
Supports DTC-based terminals, printers, and X-25, when the 10 Mb
DTC is attached to the 100 Mb network via suitable 10:100
speed-matching bridge hardware.
Integrated with the same system tools as ThinLAN, Token Ring, and
FDDI 3000/iX.
VGPBA on-line diagnostics provides status information and limited
hardware testing.
Software configuration, speed, duplex, and autonegotation settings
selectable with NMMGR.
Is compatible with the IEEE 802.12 standard.
