Using NMMGR in Screen Mode

Selecting a Conﬁguration Path

• To perform guided conﬁguration, press the key labeled

[Guided Conﬁg] and refer to the HP 3000/iX Network Planning and

Conﬁguration Guide for information.

• To perform unguided (manual) conﬁguration, press the key labeled

[Unguided Conﬁg] and refer to the NS 3000/iX NMMGR Screens

Reference Manual for information.

NOTE

Hewlett-Packard strongly recommends using guided conﬁguration

whenever you need to initially conﬁgure a network interface. You can

also take advantage of its convenience later for most network

maintenance and updating. Guided conﬁguration supplies many

default values for your conﬁguration and requires that you visit a

minimal number of screens. Use unguided conﬁguration only if you

need to modify conﬁguration values that are not available on the guided

screens.

Guided HP Conﬁguration

If you press the key labeled [Guided Conﬁg] at the NS Conﬁguration

screen, you will be taken to the Network Transport Conﬁguration

screen shown in Figure 3-5. From this screen, you choose the speciﬁc

task you want to perform using guided NS conﬁguration. These tasks

include conﬁguring or modifying a network interface, modifying logging

parameters, and ﬁne tuning global or network transport conﬁguration

parameters.
