Using NMMGR in Screen Mode

Selecting a Conﬁguration Path

Step 2. In the ﬁeld next to the question Are you using OpenView DTC

Manager?, enter a “Y” if you are using PC-based network management

for this node, enter an “N” if you are using host-based network

management. If you are using PC-based network management, an

OpenView workstation must be present on the network.

Step 3. In the ﬁeld next to the question Do you have X.25

system-to-system or PAD connections?, enter a “Y” to indicate

you will be conﬁguring a DTC/X.25 Network Access card for this node,

otherwise, enter an “N”.

Step 4. Press the

[Save Data] key to save the node name in the conﬁguration ﬁle

(create the data record). The Data ﬂag will be set to “Y” when the data

record exists.

Step 5. Proceed to one of the NMMGR conﬁguration subbranches by pressing

the appropriate function key.

Each of the conﬁguration subbranches are described.

Conﬁguring Terminals, Printers, and Other Serial

Devices

Terminals, printers, and other serial devices are connected to HP 3000

Series 900 computers through a device called the Datacommunications

and Terminal Controller (DTC). In order to connect to a device, the

system’s conﬁguration ﬁle must contain information that makes it

possible for the DTC, as well as the devices attached to the DTC, to

establish communications with the system. DTCs and their devices are

conﬁgured through NMMGR’s distributed terminal subsystem (DTS)

conﬁguration.

If you press the key labeled

[DTS] at the Main screen, you will be taken

to the Host Conﬁguration screen (Figure 3-3), the ﬁrst screen in a

progression that lets you conﬁgure DTS for PC-based network

management only. The Host-based management screen will vary

slightly.
